The Palace at Christmas Time

The Palace Hotel, on Madison … aka the old Villard Houses … four townhouses in a U shaped complex, begun in 1882, and the tall hotel modern building behind them, built by Harry Helmsley, where his wife, Leona, earned her nickname the Queen of Mean. Here the old building is well decked for the holidays.

Tavern 51, with an entrance on the 51st Street side of the complex, combines Old New York charm with New New York sophistication.
