The fabulous Ansonia, completed in 1904, on Broadway between 73rd and 74th, has countless stories woven around it.

For its first few years it had on its roof maybe the first urban farm … 500 chickens, some ducks, some goats. Even a small bear! Guests would have fresh eggs delivered. The City shut down the farm in 1907.
